As part of a Regional Behaviour Change Campaign in South East Queensland, Australia, I am looking for any case studies, resources and statistics around people's use of public drinking fountains and reusable water bottles. These are behaviours we want to encourage, in order to reduce plastic litter in our waterways.
Has anyone run a CBSM campaign on these types of behaviours before? If so, I'd love to know about the project and share resources.

Yarra Valley Water has a very successful 'Choose Tap' program that addresses the health, environmental and economic benefits of drinking tap water. Installing public drink fountains and community behaviour change initiatives (including smartphone Apps and Facebook page)are part of the program.

Thanks for your comments. I've contacted Yarra Valley Water and they have been extremely helpful. Their Choose Tap program looks very detailed and they are open to sharing the Choose Tap app with other regions in Australia.

The Hillside Festival in Guelph, Ontario, Canada just celebrated its 30th year in 2013. Please see the comprehensive list of environmental initiatives undertaken which includes dish washing stations staffed by volunteers; re-fillable draught beer tankards; water refilling tanker truck; recycling stations including organics:

Hi Michele
WOMAD NZ encourages people to refill their own drink bottles, but there's not a lot to be found on their website about this - this from their FAQ's
"Water
You fill your drink bottles with water for free from taps around the site. Chilled water is also sold at the Aqua Filter stalls.
This year as part of the Zero Waste initiative, water bottles can be refilled with chilled water for a minimal cost. Bottles can also be refilled for free from water taps - check the site map for locations."

I don't know how refilling is promoted during the event, but I think just by signs and locations on the map included in the programme, so nothing more active than this. I think bottled water is also still sold.

This was a project done as part of the BC Green Games, a competition between provincial schools to reduce waste, water etc. These students had quite a bit of support from their school and the wider community as well...
