Good morning all,
I am after an 'enviro friendly' alternative to polypropylene satchels. The product we require will need the same properties as polypropylene - robust, water resistant, lightweight etc - but not support the petrochemical industry. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Here is another option. The messenger bags and haversacks are made from recycled bicycle innertubes, and the tote bags are from recycled ad banners. The straps are recycled seat belts. http://alchemygoods.com/bags.html

Hi Darlene,
I'm guessing you'd prefer a product that is made in Australia (reducing transport etc.), so below is one good website I've found and you might want to try green pages as well if you haven't already. http://www.urbanboomerang.com.au/ http://www.greenpagesaustralia.com.au/index.asp
Kind Regards,

I checked out the urbanboomerang site; BEWARE, that they've designed their site to hide all menus, the close, and resize features on your browser. The only way to get out is Control-ALT-Delete! Given the inconvenient design of their website, I personally wouldn't risk blowing 160 bucks on a bag.

There are many recycled rubber (usually old inner tubes) bags on the market. You will get lots of hits if you google "recycled rubber bags". Here are a few web sites: https://www.vulcanabags.com/store/ http://www.lucumafashion.com/recycled_rubber_bags.asp http://www.impression.ca/Map_Recycled_Plastics.htm
Good luck,
